Hasta chile va a quedar mejor posicionado, taipei tambien, japon y hasta italia que en mujeres nunca hizo nada.

Era un torneo para salir 8vos al menos, y salieron 13ros.

che diablin tenes razon, estamos donde nos merecemos. Si seguimos llevando a este cuerpo tecnico vamos a seguir estando entre los primeros 13 o 15 lugares jajajja, llevaste a tres jugadoras , porque el que las eligio fuiste vos o te las pusieron? la 8, 9 y 14, estas ganado por 24 y no las pones jajjajaja asi vas a tener fogueo internacional desde el banco jajajaj hay diablin sos impresentable. el titulo de la nota es real? es el mismo equipo que perdio todos los partidos menos 2? el mismo que salio 13 de 16? una verguenza el basquet femenino.

vayan a jugar ustedes a ver si es tan facil ganarle a potencias mundiales con respecto al basquet femenino.. es facil hablar desde afuera, podemos estar de acuerdo o no en cuanto al rendimiento y/o juego de la seleccion, pero llamarle fracaso a un trabajo arduo mas alla de que no dio los frutos que se esperaba? VAMOS SELECCION!

Amigos les dejo esta nota de FIBA sobre Melisa Gretter que causo gran impresion en el torneo. Basta señalar lo que dijeron de ella los tecnicos de canada y eeuu que no son gente que regale elogios porque si. En fin, algo bueno nos dejo este 13º puesto.

ARG - Melisa Gretter a superstar in the making

PUERTO MONTT (2011 FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Argentina´s tournament ended in victory today, an 89-69 triumph over Slovenia, a performance that secured 13th place and further enhanced the reputation of point guard Melisa Gretter.

Gretter had already made quite an impression at the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women in Chile, and she destroyed Slovenia with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.

She scored 7 points and handed out 2 assists in the final five minutes of the game as Argentina turned a one point lead into a 20-point drubbing. It was the sort of performance that has made opposition coaches take notice all tournament.

Canada coach Rich Chambers put it quite simply - “Argentina has a fabulous point guard,” he said - while USA coach Jennifer Rizzotti was more expansive in her praise.

“I have a lot of respect for her game and my heart goes out to her that she can´t continue in this competition,” she said after the two teams met on the last day of the preliminary round.

“I love her, I think she is a great player and she played her heart out today. She played almost the full 40 minutes and you never would have thought because she never looked tired, she never gave up, she never reduced her intensity.”

High praise indeed, which caught the 167cm point guard, from Santa Fe in northern Argentina, by surprise. “That is really unexpected, but it makes me very happy,” she said.

Despite her team´s struggles Gretter has excelled, averaging 13.8 ppg, 5.6 apg, 5.2 rpg and 2.4 spg, ranking third in the tournament in assists and sixth in steals.

After her team´s victory over Egypt on Monday, Gretter took time out with www.fiba.com to discuss her childhood basketball hero, love of passing and hopes for the future.

FIBA: Congratulations on another good game today. You look so natural on the court, when did you start playing?
GRETTER: I started playing when I was seven years old, playing with the guys. Then when I was 12 I started playing with the women.

FIBA: Who were you favourite basketball players that you used to watch when you were growing up?
I really liked Pepe Sanchez.

He was a great point guard, and you play that position so well, creating shots for your teammates. Have you always loved passing?
Yes. I love to score, but the thing I love the most is to make the team play well, that´s why I love passing.

From a young girl watching Pepe Sanchez play, now you are playing at your second world championship for your country, what is that like?
It was always my dream to play for Argentina, and at 14 years old I was first selected. It is such an honour for me to play at a world championship, I worked very hard to get there. We didn´t get the result we wanted, but it was still a great experience.

USA coach Jennifer Rizzotti said she loves your game, that you play your heart out and that you are a great player. How does that make you feel?
That is really unexpected, but it makes me very happy. I will keep training and doing my best to be a good player.

What are your hopes for the future, to play at the world championship, Olympics, in the WNBA?
I want to keep being a part of the Argentina national team, and to keep growing as a basketball player. I would love to (play in the WNBA), but I am still very young. That seems like a long way away, but it would be a great honour for me to do that.

Finally, was it nice to finally get a win tonight against Egypt?
We came for more, but it was good. We will keep fighting until the end, including the next game tomorrow, when it will get tougher.

Sin dudas todos los Sudamericanos que gana Argentina no sirven como precedente de nada en ninguna seleccion !... En los mundiales realmente se ven los resultados del basquet formativo argentino.A el basquet femenino los que hacen tv , recontra vale y todos los programas que conduce este señor , le han dado semejante manija , que parecia que eran las mejores del mundo ! yo digo : no seria mejor ser mesurado con la informacion , sin despertar semejantes expectativas ?? ... Salvo la Seleccion U19 masculina que viene de hace años con unos cuantos chicos que se repiten en esa seleccion ,como Giaveno, Paredes , Delia , de esa edad y un año mas chicos , (como Massarelli , Garino y Bortolin )ganando sudamericanos , pre mundiales etc , Odesur etc el resto de los equipos no cuentan , ni ganan nadaaa ! ponganse las pilas los que informan por favoorr !! que nos quieren hacer creer ???..

Mediocres, ignorantes, resentidos.....por favor, para nuestro basket estar en un mundial ya es el premio.

PARA HERNAN: Si estar en un Mundial es el premio, eso no habla muy bien de nuestro basquet femenino.

Genial el comentario de u19. Los equipos argentinos en su mayoria tienen que luchar contra los rivales y contra los argentinos aguantando la cantidad de estupideses que escriben.

Che del sur, que debes ser el mismo que Pupi, no seas tan salame, aca sabemos de basquet y juega para deportivo meli, tiene que aprender mucho esta nena todavia, no ves que con este comentario lo unico que haces es hacer sentir mal a las otras 11 chicas??? que lo unico que logras es dejarla mal a esta piba???... que equivocado que estas.... vamos a ver ahora con Florida cuando quiera tirar 80 tiros para hacer 10 puntos, la sientan y no juega mas, ahora empieza la hora de la verdad, si fuera maradona no hubiera salido 13 en el mundial, sino fijate un poquito, las chicas que jugaron en Tailandia con mas humildad, no se si sabes subieron al podio por primera vez en la historia, si sos familiar o amigo, no la agrandes porque lo unico que haces es perjudicarla.
Y te aclaro algo, el basquet es un juego de equipo no es tenis

Tranqui amiguita, que asi te vas a poner vieja enseguida y te llamaran para jugar en veteranas, si es que las piernas te lo permiten.
Creo que este muchacho al que vos maltratas tiene un poco de razon. basta con mirar el proximo Argentino de mayores y te daras cuenta. Que yo sepa en mi Argentina hay mas de 6 provincias, y juegan solamente 6 equipos en el proximo campeonato Argentino. El basquet femenino va camino a la desintegracion, a desaparecer. Pero si uds. las grandes representantes de nuestra seleccion, las que sacan los partidos adelante y no se cuantas giladas mas se ponen nerviosa y lo unico que aportan es puterio como bien dijo este muchacho, lo unico que hacen es colaborar para que el basquet femenino desaparesca. La unica solucion que yo veo es que uds. tomen la delantera y se sinceren, aunque duela. Reconoscan que las jugadoras que hoy estan en las selecciones son una mentira, que solamente aprovechan los viajes sin dar ni un poquitito de basquet a cambio. asi las cosas podrian empezar a cambiar, digo, por el bien del deporte que vos decis que amas. Pensalo peti.

Te doy la razón.. hay mas de 6 provincias con basquet femenino..la mia incluída que no participa(Neuquén) pero si se le sigue dándo bola a tipos como al que le contesté anteriormente, terminamos de enterrar al femenino, en vez de criticar para mal hagan criticas constructivas, me parece una verguenza lo que dijeron de sacar el apoyo de la CABB al femenino. No creo que sean una mentira las jugadoras que hay.. es lo que tenemos y deberiamos bancarlas, me parece que somos muy exitistas, ojalá se mejoren estos resultados para callar a muchos!!!
